Soapwalla Natural Deodorant

I waited with baited breath for this to be available in the UK, a natural deodorant that actually smells nice and works!

Having avoided deodorants which contain aluminium for years and been rather disappointed by the market offering, I stuck to salt based products like PitRok. I have tried a few other "natural" brands but they have never been anything to get excited about, especially in the scent department.

Soapwalla was created by Rachel Winard, who having suffered from sensitive skin issues due to Lupus, started concocting her own products in her kitchen. Her cream deodorant has since become a cult product, made with all organic, food grade ingredients, it’s a pleasure to use, and sniff!

It contains a base of organic jojoba, sunflower and rosehip oils, as well as Shea butter, with corn starch, sodium bicarbonate and kaolin clay, to absorb moisture. Essential oils of Lavender, Tea Tree, Orange, Peppermint and Bergamot (all personal favourites) work effectively to combat odour.

Please note that this is not an anti-perspirant, so some wetness is to be expected, however this is not an issue for me, I’d rather a bit of wetness than use a product containing aluminium (and parabens, of course).

The bottom line is not only will you smell nice, your clothes won’t be ruined.

A 56gr jar should last you at least 4 months, mine is half full after 3 months

Yes to Cucumbers Body Lotion RRP £9.99
I hate the sticky, greasy feeling you can get after applying some body lotions, you know, when your jeans stick to your legs? Not the case with this one, it's light and non greasy thanks to glycerin, jojoba and safflower oils, smells fresh, not like a cucumber sandwich, and really hydrates. Love! Neal's Yard Rejuvenate Frankincense Facial Oil RRP £25 for 30ml
This is a new product from NYR, a gorgeous face oil (and we know how much I love those) that is ultra nourishing yet ultra light. It smells divine (thanks to Mandarin, Bergamot, Frankincense and Myrrh) and sinks in well, leaving barely anything behind, which is surprising given that it contains Macadamia, Baobab, Evening Primrose, Apricot Kernel, Castor and Hemp Seed oils. This makes it perfect for all skin types, but particularly for combi/oily who find most face oils a bit greasy. I've been using it at night as well as after face peels and it leaves your skin soft and plumped. Click here for more details

Aden and Anais Muslin Washcloth, RRP £12.99 for 3
I do confess to having a slight obsession with muslin cloths, I use them to remove make-up and am always on the look out for bigger and better so, I give you Aden and Anais: designed for babies, these are larger than average, but, better still, they are 4 ply, yes, 4 ply, so not only are they lovely and thick, they retain heat for longer, essential for a deep cleanse. I admit they are not cheap, but worth every penny. Click here for more details

Charlotte & Co. Victorian Cotton Nightdress

I've wanted a nice Cotton nightdress for ages, and by nice I mean:
- plain white, no flowery prints, I'm not 65
- soft and cool cotton, not icy and crispy cold
- long, I mean really long, not something that hovers above the knee
- comfortable, wide enough across the chest and loose around the body
- nice finishing would be a plus

and I found it: Charlotte & Co. do a selection of pure Cotton nightdresses in vintage Victorian designs, all in beautifully soft and light cotton lawn, finished with tasteful lace detailing. I opted for the sleeveless as I'll be wearing this when it's hot and it does not disappoint: long enough to lounge about in whilst keeping your legs covered, cool enough to sleep in, and very, very comfortable. It's gorgeous! Might have to get the Short Sleeved Nightdress and Pyjamas next.....

Amelia Rope Chocolate

I’m not the biggest of chocolate eaters, almost always choosing stinky cheese over a choccie pudding; however, I am currently unable to put down one of Amelia Rope’s bars of chocolate…
I came across her (and said bars) in Liberty where I promptly sampled one of each, the one I thought I would like the least, naturally, is now the one I like the most: 40% cocoa milk with lemon and sea salt. It’s dreamy, unexpectedly citrusy, salty and sweet, all at the same time; plus, it contains essential oil, no peel, and hits of Maldon Sea Salt Flakes.
I also had to have the Hazelnut & Sea Salt (the Hazel being my favourite nut of all), as well as the Coffee Bean, both of which are generously speckled. The Hazelnut is rich in an expensive Ferrero Rocher kind of way, the Coffee gives you crunchy bitterness and a hit of sweet cocoa at the same time.

Amelia makes the bars by hand, using single origin cocoa and premium essential oils, fruit and nuts. Wrapped in coloured foil and brown paper, each one is numbered by hand, signed by Amelia, and tied with ribbon making them perfect gifts. She even offers a bespoke personalisation service!

I’m smitten

Balance Me Skincare

Balance Me sprung to fame when sisters Rebecca and Clare created Super Oil from their kitchen table, which was followed by Body Washes, Lotions and a brilliant Scrub making it one of the best known brands in the world of natural skincare. They have since created a line of facial products which continue to deliver on their promise of luxurious yet affordable skincare without the use of synthetic ingredients, mineral oil, silicones or parabens.
Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm £20
If you like oil based cleansing balms then you're in for a treat: a base of Sweet Almond Oil has been blended with Mango Seed and Shea Butters, oatmeal and a host of essential oils to create a blissfully gentle yet effective cleanser that melts into the skin removing all traces of make up including mascara. It smells amazing thanks to May Chang, a zesty flower which I have only come across in one other cleanser before and I wish more brands would use! The oatmeal gives it texture rather than exfoliating properties so it's no problem to use it round the eye area. It comes in a squeezy tube making it great for travel and you only need a small amount so a tube should last you at least 2-3 months. I love using this before getting into a hot shower, it leaves the skin ultra soft. For me, this is their star product!
Balancing Face Moisturiser £24
This is my 2nd favourite product in the range: a lovely, light lotion which really hydrates and softens the skin without a hint of greasiness. It's fantastic as a day cream and ideal for use under make up or in hot weather (this will be a great summer moisturiser). Smells slightly of Lemongrass, one of my faves!
Moisture-Rich Face Cream £24
This would make a great day cream for those with normal to dry skins as well as a night cream for those with normal to oily skins. I have been using it under make up in the cold weather but prefer this at night or for use at weekends when I'm not wearing any foundation. It has a lovely creamy texture and a delicate scent.
Wonder Eye Cream £14 for 10ml
This is a very light cream thanks to Glycerin and Witch Hazel which help combat puffiness. It makes a perfect eye cream for day as it sinks in well and doesn't leave a trace making it also ideal for contact lens wearers. Suitable as a night eye cream for those with very young or oily skin.
Radiance Face Oil £15 for 10ml roller ball (pictured)
I tested the roller ball which allows you to apply to specific points on your face making it a great starting point for those just beginning to use oils. It also comes in a 30ml bottle with a dropper which I personally prefer as I like to warm the oil in between my hands before massaging in.  A blend of Sweet Almond, Grape Seed, Kukui Nut, Jojoba, Rosehip, Moringa and Camellia give this a silky texture with a slightly "warm" fragrance. It contains essential oils of Chamomile, Yarrow and Rosemary, none of which are overpowering. It's light, sinks in well, and has a slightly "serum-y" finish, so it's perfect if you don't like the feeling of oiliness on your skin.
All in all, I really like the range, the packaging is good and everything is reasonably priced, especially given the standard of the ingredients. I would definitely purchase the cleanser and recommend you try some samples of the creams. For more details click here

MV Organic Skincare Daily Soother $86
From the fabulous MV Organic Skincare range comes this oil based skin booster which can be added to your usual moisturiser or, as I prefer, massaged into damp skin after cleansing and spritzing with MV's Rose Hydrating Mist. A high concentration of organic, cold pressed Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Carrot, Rosehip and Calendula oils are blended with essential oils to soothe, nourish and protect sensitive, inflamed or dry skins. Blissful.

Living Nature Concealer £14
This is a wonderful concealer: it's very creamy yet highly pigmented, so you really only need to use a little plus it doesn't show up in skin's creases! It's unscented and comes in a tiny tube making it easy to use and super portable. Contains Jojoba and Macadamia Nut oils as well as their trademark Manuka Honey. One of the best I've tried.

Vapour Organic Beauty, Siren Lipstick £18
From one of my favourite make up brands comes this fantastic lipstick. I don't usually like lipstick as I find it's always too dry and over pigmented. Siren is creamy and soft without being greasy or shiny, and delivers the exact strength of colour you see. On top of this you get great packaging and all natural, organic ingredients. I'm hooked.

Lavera Glossy Lips £9.90
If you're more of a lip gloss girl then this from Lavera is brilliant, it's soft and shimmery without a hint of stickiness or grease, it also doesn't give you any nasty surprises as the colour looks exactly as it does in the tube.  For more details click here
