5 Summer Essentials

THALGO Reviving Marine Mist £24.50 for 150ml
We’ve all used Evian’s water mist, but, let’s face it, at the end of the day, it’s just water. This lovely spray from French brand Thalgo not only refreshes and gives you a much needed boost in hot weather, it also hydrates the skin thanks to Glycerin and Castor Oil. It has a very gentle scent which doesn’t linger and it can also be used as a toner before applying your moisturiser as well as all over the body. I keep it in the office and have been spritzing it over make-up, including non-waterproof mascara, and it’s fab! For more details click here
John Masters Organic SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen £28.50 for 59ml
I’ve always struggled to find a high SPF face product that really protects but doesn't feel like a sun cream. Enter this fabulous lotion from John Masters Organic which not only has a high factor of 30, but is light and non-greasy. And I seriously mean it is light and non-greasy! It contains both Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, as well as Aloe Vera, Glycerin, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter and Hyaluronic Acid, which make it feel and act like a moisturiser. Now, I am not going to lie to you, there is a slight element of whiteness to it, but, in all honesty, for a physical, non-chemical sun barrier to work, there has to be, that’s the whole point of them. I mix it with or apply over a moisturiser, then leave to sink in before applying make-up, but it can also be used alone if it’s very hot or you have oily skin. It’s the first high factor face cream I have tried that really works and doesn’t leave a pore blocking oil slick behind. Perfect for the outdoors and essential for gardening! Aesop Parsley Seed & Zinc SPF 15 Facial Hydrating Cream £27 for 40ml
From one of my favourite brands, Aesop, comes their first moisturiser with an SPF. At factor 15, it’s low enough to not leave any chalkiness but sufficient enough to make a difference thanks to micronised zinc oxide, which also doesn't block pores. It contains Macadamia Nut and Evening Primrose oils as well as Lavender, which gives it a divine fragrance. As with all their creams, it is very gentle, so I’ve been using it round my eye area as well as my face and neck without any problems. Is not at all greasy and comes in a fab tube! Bionsen Deo Total Body RRP £3.99
I’ve been using Salt/Crystal Rock type deodorants for some time now, and, though I love them, I have found I needed to, shall we say, “top up” on a particularly sweaty day. The rock format is not user friendly in this sense, as you need to have access to a tap to apply it. The solution? Bionsen who have cleverly put the crystals in a spray container which you simply fill with water and shake. This not only allows you to refresh as needed, it also gives you a cooling spritz which you can use all over your body, making it especially fab for feet. The bottle holds just under 100mls of water making it hand luggage friendly and it can be refilled 5 times. Genius! For more details click here
Acquihzen Good to Go Collection £41
From lovely brand Acquizhen comes this perfect kit containing travel sizes of their bestselling products, all of which are natural and organic: Freshening Cleanser, Replenishing Day Cream and Nurturing Night Cream (15ml each), Gentle Exfoliating Mask (30ml) and a full size bar of Sunrise soap (150grs). Perfect for your handbag, gym kit or keeping in your drawer at work. I particularly love the soap which has a gentle scent of Orange Blossom, an everyday shower favourite! For more details click here
